The students of Avondale Intermediate School are our greatest treasure, they are passionate learners! They are proud of their community and their school and they inspire us all to ‘Aim High'!

Passion in education requires us to do everything well. At Avondale Intermediate School this passion for excellence drives our curriculum, the way we work together and even the current building project. The review and development of the New Zealand Curriculum allows us to take stock, identify our strengths and to plot exactly where we aim to go in the future. We plan to ‘Aim High' and we expect to achieve great things in education.

We are passionate about working towards high student achievement, especially in the basics (Reading, Writing and Mathematics). We strive to ensure that our students are motivated to set goals and achieve them with well structured support and the latest educational technologies. Teachers at Avondale Intermediate School engage in ongoing professional development and implement targeted programmes in all classes. We carefully monitor student achievement results in order to make sure that progress is noted and celebrated.

We are passionate about providing a rich and ‘complex' specialist curriculum. Students attend classes in Performing (Music, Dance and Drama) and Visual Arts, Science and Technology. They are encouraged to engage in cultural pursuits and language enrichment, and respond with enthusiasm to our highly developed Health and Physical Wellbeing, Sport and Fitness programmes. Our students attend outdoor educational events and camps and are competitive as well as fair minded on the sports field.

We are passionate about ensuring that our students are ‘ready for independent learning'. Students at Avondale Intermediate learn how to set and achieve their own learning goals, to think deeply about the learning opportunities in which they engage and to explain, exhibit and produce high quality evidence of their learning processes.

Teachers at Avondale Intermediate School are passionate and talented educators! We consider ourselves ‘a community of learners' walking alongside our students and supporting one another. We welcome engagement with parents and wider community members to ensure that today's children of Avondale Intermediate are our community leaders of tomorrow

I encourage you all to participate in this journey with us.
